Chinese tech giant Huawei has at long last launched the premium foldable phone Mate X in its nation of origin at 16,999 Yuan ($2,400) 

The Mate X will be accessible in China from November 15.

Concerning its availability in global markets, a company spokesperson has said via CNET that a "global launch plan is under review."

Note, that the Huawei Mate X will run an open-source variant of Android that won't have any Google apps and services. This is because of the ongoing trade war between the US and China wherein the previous has forced a trade ban on Huawei.

Huawei Mate X: At a glance

The Huawei Mate X offers a single notch-less display that folds into a smartphone-like structure factor with dual displays. It has ultra-thin bezels, a metallic frame, a holdable "wing", and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

In the unfolded state, it sports a main 8-inch (2480x2200 pixels) OLED display which folds into a 6.6-inch (2480x1148 pixels) front display and a 6.38-inch (2480x892 pixels) back display.

The Mate X sports a LEICA-built triple-lens camera setup involving a 40MP (wide-angle sensor), 16MP (ultra-wide-angle sensor) and an 8MP telephoto sensor. During the phone is folded, this setup bends over as a selfie camera.

Under the hood, the Mate X is controlled by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, combined with 8GB RAM and 512GB of internal memory.

Inside, the device packs a 4,500mAh battery and supports 55W fast charging support with a USB Type-C port.

It runs an open-source Android OS and needs support for Google services like Play Store, Google Assistant, YouTube, and as well as others.
